Transfer Policies

Many colleges and universities teach introductory-level Economics in a two-semester course sequence – Principles of Microeconomics and Principle of Macroeconomics.  Other schools, like CSB/SJU, have a one-semester course which addresses material from both microeconomics and macroeconomics.

To assure that students have the material from both microeconomics and macroeconomics, students must take (or have taken) both courses in the two-course sequence in order to substitute the credits for ECON 111.  Any additional credits earned above the 4 credits awarded for substitution for ECON 111 are transferred as general 100-level credits in Economics and only count towards the 124 total credits required for graduation from CSB/SJU.

A student who has taken only either Principles of Micro or Principles of Macro, may either:

  1. take ECON 111, or

  2. take the other Principles course (Macro or Micro) and transfer the credits applying the “rule” in the previous sentence above.
