Curriculum
The economics department's curriculum is based on a three-tiered system. The one-semester introductory economics course, EC 111 comprises Tier I and provides the background for Tier II. The micro/macro theory and quantitative methods sequence, EC 332/333/334, and applied courses requiring only EC 111 comprise Tier II. Tier III contains the department's upper-division courses that require both micro/macro theory and quantitative methods; this tier culminates with the senior research course, EC 384.
The tiered structure is designed to ensure that our students acquire both a breadth and depth of understanding of the economics literature.
