What advice do you have for people considering the economics major?
An economics major will open many doors after college in a variety of fields. Take at least one introductory accounting course and take as much math as you possibly can. It is a lot easier to apply the concepts from economics classes to the real world when you understand the language of accounting and have math skills to model theories.
How did the major prepare you for your career?
A large part of my job now is analyzing data, formulating economic arguments to explain financial outcomes and then distilling and explaining that information for non-economists. If you look at most 300 level economics classes that is basically what we are doing at CSB/SJU.
