What advice do you have for economics majors?

Take a wide selection of classes, both macro and micro oriented, maybe even some psychology and/or some extra math courses if you have time. Economics is a broad field with a lot of applications, and if you look too closely at one field it's easy to lose the underlying themes in the specifics of whatever you're studying. Also, study abroad. I cannot think of a single experience that did more to expand about world events than my spending seven months in China.
