Terms of Office and Tenure

All committee terms are for 3 years beginning September 1 and ending August 31.  Positions of the Chair, Past Chair, and Chair-Elect shall be one year positions.  (They will serve on the Support Staff committee for 3 years, but only hold a Chair position for one year).  The Chair automatically succeeds to the office of Past Chair in the year following tenure as Chair.  The Chair-Elect shall succeed to the office of Chair in the year following tenure as Chair-Elect.

In the event of a vacancy in any position, the Committee shall make an interim appointment that shall be for the remainder of the former incumbent’s term of office.  Voting will be done on a paper vote sent to all CSB Support Staff members through inter-campus mail.  The Chair-Elect will serve in the absence of the Chair.

Voting will take place each spring for open positions.  Process shall entail:

  • Nomination forms (in the form of hard copy paper) will be sent out to each area with the name of each person working in that area.
  • The top 2 (or 4) nominees will be contacted to make sure that they are willing and able to serve on the committee.
  • Another hard copy paper will be sent out with the top two (or 4 if they have 2 representatives) names for all people in that area to vote on for their 1 (or 2) representative from their area.
  • An email or message will be sent to the people who were voted to serve on the support staff committee with congratulations.

Voting for additional positions (i.e. Professional Development Committee and Joint Benefits Council) which do not serve as formal representatives of the Support Staff Committee will be voted on the same as Support Staff members.

Support Staff can serve consecutive terms on the committee.
