CSB Support Staff Committee Meeting
Wednesday, March 15, 2006
1:15 pm, Rainbow Room
Present: Jeanne Terres, Jackie Gertken, Al Rassier, Trish Doran, Joan Supan, Rhonda Mielke, Barb Ries and Karen Storkamp
Minutes: January minutes were approved.
Joint Benefit Committee: No one from Joint Benefits was present. The group had a few questions about the new Simply Well program. What kind of approval process did it go through? What benefit will it provide to employees beyond what our current programs offer? According the January 06 Joint Benefits report, the program would provide on-line assistance and reports to medical providers at a cost to the college of $44-$58,000.00 per year. Al will get in touch with Wayne and Judy and have them email the February 06 Joint Benefits report to the Support Staff Committee in the hopes that the report will provide some additional information.
Professional Development Report: No new information.
Support Staff Committee Changes: There have been a lot of nominations for new committee members and a lot of people have accepted the nomination. Our outgoing members need to be replaced by July 1st. Tina, however, has to be replaced as soon as possible since she is accepting a new position.
Ice Cream Social: We will host an ice cream social on May 18, 2006 from 1-3 p.m. on the Main lawn. The theme will be “Spring in to Life,” and we will give away prizes related to gardening. Individual prizes will be under $25.00, and the Administrative Staff will contribute funds. You must attend the social in order to register for prizes. Student employees will be able to come and have ice cream, but they will not be eligible for prizes.
River Bats: Since the committee intends to host the event during the next fiscal year, funds for the event must come out of the next fiscal year’s budget. Al will first send out a survey to see if people are interested in attending a game on August 5, 2006. If we have 50 or more interested people, tickets will be $5.00 a person. We need to decide if we are going to fund tickets, transportation or both.
Miscellaneous: We will add a Health at Work report to the monthly agenda to determine if there are HAW projects that the Support Staff committee wants to support
We have had a request to fund a bus that will run from CSB to SJU for the “Janie Jason” (sp?) presentation being sponsored by Human Resources. Al will get more information for the next meeting.
Students and staff can get a 15% discount at the Stonehouse in St Joe.
Al will contact Thompson’s Greenhouse to set up a Lunch and Learn on spring flowers and plants. In the next month or so, we will hopefully have two sessions, one at lunch time and one at 2:00 p.m.
Respectfully submitted by,
Trish Doran
