Support Staff Committee Meeting Minutes

1:15 p.m. Rainbow Room

Present: Jane Schulzetenberg, Andrew Deuhs, Joyce Honer, Mary Niedenfuer, Bev Overman, Jackie Gertken, Becky Terwey, Bev Radaich

Absent: Jackie Miller,Tonya Carlson, Keith Matthies Mary Kay Luethmers, Jeanne Terres

The meeting began at 1:15 p.m.

I.      Minutes- The Sept. 11, 2002 were approved

II.      Old Business

A.     Welcomed new member- Jackie Gertken is representing Gertrude (Main)

B.     Ballots-We have 3 winners in the Sec/Bookstore/Mary Commons. They are Shelly Athmann,Tina Kortenbusch and Bill Storkcamp.Mary will e-mail them to see if they will accept the position. If we have more than one, we will vote between them.

C.     Coffee House-Joyce priced a few items and we decided to have pumpkin bars and caramel apples. And for beverages we will have coffee and hot chocolate. The coffee house will be held at O’Connel’s at 1:30- 3:00.Mary will pick up pumpkins at the farmers market, which will be used for center pieces and also door prizes. Joyce will pick up bakery certificate and a few other door prizes. Bev O. will put a memo out on the bullet board. Members should be there at 1:00 to help set up.

D.     Co-Chair will be tabled till next meeting

E.      Becky Terwey gave us an update on the tentative employee benefit package. Summary of cost:

• 25% premium increase-medical       $226,648
• Prescription plan design changes     $233,000 
•                   Total                       $530,614

• 25.4% premium increase-dental                     $ 70,966

                         Unfunded expenses/one time additions:              $1,755,000

F.      Compensation committee-All groups on campus should have representation. Committee members should talk to the people in their area and bring back comments to the Nov. meeting.                                                                                    

III.      New Business

A.     Sister Eunice wants to know if we want to continue the luncheons with the sister. And also encourages our members in our area to take part in the Benedictine Values programs.

B.     Joyce was wondering if we were going to have the Christmas Craft Sale. Bev O. will check on it.
