

2007: Extremely talented player with great instincts ... along with All-American Terri Knapper will form one of the best middle-blocking duos in the MIAC ... played excellent down the stretch in 2005 helping the Blazers make the NCAA tournament ... has shown she can block the top hitters in the MIAC.
2006: Played in all 109 games of the 28 Blazer matches ... finished with 123 blocks, averaging 1.13 blocks per game (third MIAC, led CSB) ... recorded 43 solo blocks and 99 block assist ... completed 13 matches with five or more blocks ... totaled eight or more blocks on four occasions ... had three or more solo blocks in three matches ... had six matches with multiple solo blocks ... finished the season with a .254 hitting percentage (second for CSB) ... completed six matches with a .400 hitting percentage or better ... accumulated 246 kills and averaged 2.26 kills per game (third for CSB) ... amassed 10 or more kills in 12 matches ... collected 43 digs ... recorded a double-double on Oct. 31, 2006 at Carleton with 11 kills and a season-high 10 blocks ... on Oct. 21, 2006 at Gustavus, Hjelmgren finished with a season-high 16 kills, a .278 hitting percentage, and six blocks.
2005: Played in 106 of the Blazers 107 games in 2005 ... provided immediate contributions on both offense and defense for Saint Benedict ... collected 148 kills, (1.40 kills per game) which ranked fifth on the team ... led the Blazers in blocks with 135 (1.27 blocks per game) ... recorded 11 blocks against UW-Eau Claire (Sept. 3, 2006) ... had nine blocks against Nebraska Wesleyan the opening round match of the NCAA Central Regional Tournament (Nov. 10, 2006).
High School: A 2005 graduate of North St. Paul High School, Hjelmgren was coached by Mike Macken … participated in volleyball and basketball for four years each during her athletic career at North St. Paul High School … was an All-Classic Suburban Conference selection in volleyball (2003, 2004) and basketball (2004, 2005) … captained both the volleyball and basketball teams her senior year.
Personal: Daughter of Therese and Terry Hjelmgren of Maplewood, Minn. … enjoys volleyball, basketball, attending sporting events, spending time with family and friends and scrapbooking … proudest moment in her volleyball career was beating Carleton on their home court for the second time during the 2005 season ... majoring in Biology.
