10.4.08 | Women's Golf
Senior Leigh Bartholomew (Lake Elmo, MN, Stillwater Area)and junior April Damman (Glencoe, MN, Glencoe-Silver Lake) each carded an 86 as the College of Saint Benedict golf team shot a team score 349 tying them with Carleton College after the first round of the MIAC Women's Golf Championships held at Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids on Saturday.   Gustavus leads the championships with a team score of 324.   First-year golfer Kathryn Hauff (Fargo, ND, Shanley) posted an 87, while senior Ann Dressen (Alexandria, MN, Jefferson) and sophomore Sarah Hupperts (North Oaks, MN, Mounds View) shot a 90 and 95 respectively.   The second round will get underway on Sunday at 11:30 a.m.

The College of Saint Benedict Blazers (3-3 MIAC, 6-4 overall) fell to the Macalester Scots (4-1 MIAC, 7-3 overall) 1-0 yesterday in St. Paul, Minn. The host Scots scored in the 80th minute.  The Blazers are now ranked sixth in the MIAC.

The College of Saint Benedict volleyball team (18-3 overall, 5-0 MIAC) sent St. Mary’s University (11-7 overall, 3-1 MIAC) to their first conference loss in an impressive outing, winning 25-23, 25-15, and 25-20.  The victory was Blazers head coach Michelle Blaesers’s 150th career win.

    In support of breast cancer research, the College of Saint Benedict volleyball team held Dig Pink Day on Wednesday, Sept. 24 during their home contest against St. Katherine.  The team raised $450 for research.  Fans were asked to attend the match wearing pink clothing and the Blazer volleyball team wore pink ribbons in their hair in honor of the day.

The College of Saint Benedict golf team sent the crowd home happy this afternoon beating local rival Saint Cloud State in their final tune up for next week’s MIAC championships. With fellow Blazer athletes there to cheer the golfers on, the Blazers did not disappoint shooting a team score 338 for an eight stroke win over SCSU at Blackberry Ridge in Sartell, Mn.

Beth Hanson
Hanson, the reigning Co-MIAC player of the week put up some noticeable statistics in a pair of Blazer wins last week over St. Olaf and St. Mary’s. The junior setter recorded 17 digs and 88 assist to help improve CSB’s MIAC mark to 5-0 to compliment an 18-3 overall record.
