12/12/2007 - The College of Saint Benedict volleyball team (8-3 MIAC, 21-11 overall) capped off the 2007 season by announcing team awards at the annual season-end banquet. Blazer players and coaches voted for the individuals they felt most deserved the honors of Most Improved Player, Best Offense, Best Defense, Most Valuable Player, and Coaches Award. Full Text…

11/13/2007 - The College of Saint Benedict volleyball team's sophomore outside hitter Emma Jaynes (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing High School) was honored on the 2007 Amercian Volleyball Coaches' Association (AVCA) All-America team. Jaynes was selected as a Honorable Mention. She is one of only four MIAC players named by the AVCA to any level of the All-America team. Jaynes finished the season with 3.57 kills and 4.47 digs per game. Full Text…
11/08/2007 - The College of Saint Benedict volleyball team (8-3 MIAC, 21-11 overall) was defeated by the Bethel Royals in their Central Region match-up this afternoon. Bethel beat CSB 3-0 with game scores of 30-19, 30-28, 30-23. It was a contest of top-ranked teams with the Blazers at No. 24 in the nation and Bethel just one notch up at No. 23. Unfortunately for CSB, the Royals were also one step ahead of them in their NCAA Division III first round match earlier today. Full Text…

11/07/2007 - The College of Saint Benedict volleyball team's sophomore outside hitter Emma Jaynes (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing High School) was named to the All-Central Region team. Players selected for the team represented four midwest conferences: the MIAC, IIAC, GPAC , and UAA. Jaynes was one of 11 players from the region awarded this honor. She is currently averaging 3.54 kills and 4.46 digs per game for CSB. Full Text…

11/06/2007 - The College of Saint Benedict volleyball team (8-3 MIAC, 21-10 overall) is named to the Week 9 AVCA Division III Top 25. The Blazers came in at No. 24 in the nation when voting took place this week. This marks the first time CSB volleyball has been ranked nationally this season. The Blazers joined the likes of four other MIAC teams currently in the top 25, all of which will be competing in the NCAA tournament beginning Nov. 8. Full Text…

11/05/2007 - The College of Saint Benedict volleyball team (8-3 MIAC, 21-10 overall) was well-represented when the MIAC announced its 2007 All-Playoff Team earlier today. Among the six stellar performers selected in this year's MIAC volleyball were sophomore setter Beth Hanson (Fairbault, Minn./Bethlehem Academy) and first-year middle blocker Laurel Heggernes (Mora, Minn./Mora High School). The duo connected for numerous attacks that led the Blazers past No. 20 Concordia in the semifinal match and against No. 13 St. Thomas in the playoff championship. Full Text…

11/05/2007 - The College of Saint Benedict volleyball team (8-3 MIAC, 21-10 overall) received a bid to play in the NCAA Division III national tournament. The Blazers face off against MIAC opponent Bethel in the first round of the tournament. The match will be played at 3:30 Thursday, Nov. 8 at St. Thomas. CSB's 21-10 record and strong playoff run gave the tournament committee many reasons to include the Blazers in the much sought after post-season tournament. Full Text…

11/03/2007 - The College of Saint Benedict volleyball team (8-3 MIAC, 21-10 overall) was defeated by St. Thomas 3-0 in tonight's MIAC playoff final. The game scores of the match were 32-30, 30-24, and 30-28. The Tommies, currently ranked No. 13 in the country, came into the match with a unblemished MIAC record and concluded the contest in the same fashion. 11/01/2007 - The College of Saint Benedict volleyball team (8-3 MIAC, 21-9 overall) defeated the Concordia-Moorhead Cobbers 3-2 (26-30, 21-30, 30-24, 30-20, 15-9) in tonight’s MIAC semifinal match. That makes it twice in five days the Blazers have defeated the Cobbers, who are ranked No. 20 in the AVCA Division III national poll. With their backs against the wall, and Concordia only one game away from advancing to the MIAC championship, the Blazers pulled together enough energy to endure, and win, the nail-biting five-game match. 10/31/2007 - The College of Saint Benedict volleyball team (8-3 MIAC, 20-9 overall) had two players honored when the 2007 MIAC awards were given out today. Sophomores Beth Hanson (Fairbault, Minn./Bethlehem Academy) and Emma Jaynes (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing High School) were among the 18 players named to this year All-MIAC team. This is the first All-Conference award received by both Hanson and Jaynes. The decision to include these Blazers comes as no surprise to those who have attended a CSB match this fall. 10/29/2007 - First-year middle blocker Laurel Heggernes (Mora, Minn./Mora High School) was named the MIAC Co-Hitter of the Week. Heggernes played an integral role in key matches against the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds (as of Oct. 26) in the MIAC standings. Heggernes finished the week with 3.67 kills per game (22 total) on a .222 hitting percentage. She also led the team with six service aces in the two matches. Full Text…

10/27/2007 - The College of Saint Benedict volleyball team (8-3 MIAC, 20-9 overall) defeated the Concordia-Moorhead Cobbers in three games with scores of 30-28, 30-27, and 30-24. The Cobbers are currently ranked No. 19 in the nation according to the most recent AVCA poll. This afternoon's win makes the Blazers 3-0 against top 25 teams when competing in Claire Lynch Hall. It is also the second such victory in just 10 days; they beat No. 21 Carleton 3-2 on Oct. 17. With the win, CSB effectively altered the entire MIAC volleyball playoff picture. The Blazers and Cobbers both finished with an 8-3 conference record and a second place tie. However, because of today's outcome, CSB won the tie-breaker of head-to-head competition and earned the No. 2 seed in the upcoming MIAC playoffs. Full Text…

10/27/2007 - The College of Saint Benedict volleyball team (7-3 MIAC, 19-9 overall) was defeated by St. Thomas 3-0. The game scores of the match were 30-26, 30-27, and 30-23. The Tommies are ranked No. 13 in the country in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll that were released earlier today. St. Thomas peaked in the poll on Oct. 2 when they were as high as No. 6. The Blazers faced a UST team that only few in the nation, and no one in the MIAC, have yet to defeat. Full Text…

10/20/2007 - The College of Saint Benedict volleyball team (7-2 MIAC, 19-8 overall) was defeated by Gustavus Adolphus College 3-2. The game scores of the match were 29-31, 26-30, 30-24, 30-28, and 18-16. The Gusties become the first team in 2007 to knock off CSB in Claire Lynch Hall. The Blazers began the season with eight straight home wins, a streak that Gustavus both ignored and ended today. Full Text…

10/17/2007 - The College of Saint Benedict volleyball team (7-1 MIAC, 19-7 overall) defeated the Carleton College Knights in a five-game thriller that may foreshadow what lies ahead in the MIAC playoffs. The Blazers won 3-2 with game scores of 30-25, 25-30, 30-22, 27-30, and 15-8. Carleton entered tonight’s match ranked 20th in the nation according to the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) poll. The Knights were trailing CSB by just one game in the MIAC standings with a 5-2 record. However, with a huge win tonight the Blazers have, at least temporarily, grabbed sole possession of second place in the conference and left the Knights back in the fifth spot. Full Text…

10/13/2007 - The College of Saint Benedict volleyball team (6-1 MIAC, 18-7 overall) entered the second day of the Wild West Tournament with a 0-2 record for the weekend. However, the two losses did not cause CSB to hesitate even for a second. The Blazers defeated the University of Concordia (Wisconsin) 3-0 in their 11 a.m. PCT match. The game scores of the three-game sweep were 30-19, 31-29, and 30-24. 10/12/2007 - The College of Saint Benedict volleyball team (6-1 MIAC, 16-7 overall) traveled to Hayward, Calif. to participate in the Wild West Women’s Volleyball Tournament. In their 7 p.m. (PCT) match, CSB took on the tournament host, California State University-East Bay. CSU-EB defeated the Blazers 3-0 with game scores of 30-17, 30-9, and 30-24. 10/09/2007 - The College of Saint Benedict volleyball team defeated the Macalester College Scots 3-0 Tuesday. The game scores were 31-29, 30-24, and 30-20. With the three-game victory, the Blazers (6-1 MIAC, 16-5 overall) extended their conference winning streak to six. 10/06/2007 - The College of Saint Benedict volleyball team (5-1 MIAC, 15-5 overall) went 2-0 in the second day of the IIAC/MIAC Border Battle. In their 3 p.m. match, the Blazers defeated the Cornell College Rams 3-0 with game scores of 30-24, 30-18, and 30-26. Earlier in the day, CSB beat the Wartburg College Knights. The game scores of the 11 a.m. match were 30-28, 30-26, and 30-24 and resulted in a 3-0 win over the Knights. 10/05/2007 - The College of Saint Benedict volleyball team (5-1 MIAC, 13-5) traveled to St. Paul, Minn. to participate in the MIAC/IIAC Border Battle at Hamline University. In their 8 p.m. match, the Blazers were defeated 3-2 by the Loras College Duhawks. The game scores were 30-24, 30-20, 20-30, 27-30, and 15-11. Before CSB dropped a tough five-game match to Loras, it beat the University of Dubuque Spartans 3-0 with game scores of 30-22, 30-27, and 30-24. The win against the Spartans in the 4 p.m. match gave the Blazers their tenth straight victory. 10/03/2007 - The College of Saint Benedict volleyball team (5-1 MIAC, 12-4 overall) defeated the Hamline Pipers 3-0 with game scores of 30-20, 30-14, and 30-25. The Blazers extended their home winning steak to six games, matching the longest such streak for CSB in the last eight years. 09/24/2007 - Sophomore setter Beth Hanson (Fairbault, Minn. / Bethlehem Academy) was selected as the MIAC Setter/Libero of the Week. Hanson compiled 92 set-assists in just six games played, giving her an outstanding average of 15.33 assists per game for CSB. 09/15/2007 - The College of Saint Benedict volleyball team (0-1 MIAC, 7-4 overall) defeated the Northwestern College Eagles 3-0 in the final match of the 2007 CSB Holiday InnVitational. The Blazers defeated the Eagles 30-19, 30-25, and 30-26. With the win on Saturday afternoon, CSB completed a weekend sweep with a 4-0 record. 09/08/2007 - The College of Saint Benedict volleyball team (3-3 overall) lost to Nebraska Wesleyan 3-2 and defeated St. Scholastica 3-0 when they traveled to St. Peter, Minn. to participate in Saturday's Gustavus Triangular. After a difficult contest earlier in the day, CSB faced the St. Scholastica Saints in its 2 p.m. match.
