The College of Saint Benedict announced the 2007-2008 athletic awards Sunday at the annual CSB athletics banquet. Five athletes were recognized for outstanding athletic achievement.
Sophomore volleyball player Emma Jaynes (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) was selected athlete of the year. An All-American honorable mention pick, Jaynes (left) 3.57 kills and 4.47 digs per game.
Basketball standout Daniele Frank (Caledonia, Minn./Caledonia) and track and field athlete Ashley Irons (Twin Falls, Id./Twin Falls) shared rookie of the year honors. 
Frank averaged 8.0 points, 9.2 rebounds and 3.3 blocks per game for the Blazers, helping them to a 20-6 overall record.
Irons has paced the Blazers track and field team so far this season in distance events including the steeplechase as well as being a member of the record breaking indoor distance medley relay.
Senior Kristin Haubrich (Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee H.S.) was selected most inspirational. Haubrich is the president of Student Athlete Advisory Committee and competes in cross country and track and field.
Senior swimmer Kaelly Simpson (Plano, Texas/Frisco) received the presidential award. Simpson holds three school records for the Blazers.
