Heggernes Selected MIAC Hitter of the Week

First-year middle blocker Laurel Heggernes (Mora, Minn./Mora High School) was named the MIAC Co-Hitter of the Week. Heggernes played an integral role in key matches against the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds (as of Oct. 26) in the MIAC standings. The Blazers were defeated by St. Thomas, which ranks No. 13 in the country, on Oct. 23 and went on to beat Concordia-Moorhead, No. 19 in the nation, in just three games on Oct. 27. Heggernes finished the week with 3.67 kills per game (22 total) on a .222 hitting percentage. She also led the team with six service aces in the two matches. With their victory over Concordia on Saturday, Heggernes and the Blazers locked up the second seed in the MIAC playoffs beginning Tuesday, Oct. 30. As the second seed, CSB receives a first round bye. Heggernes and the Blazers will be back in action against an undetermined opponent at home on Thursday, Nov. 1 to host the MIAC semifinal match.
