The College of Saint Benedict volleyball team (3-1 MIAC, 10-4 overall) defeated the St. Olaf Oles 3-0 with game scores of 30-23, 30-22, and 30-26. The Blazers grabbed their third consecutive conference win as they swept the Oles in Northfield, Minn. The three-game match also marked the Blazers’ seventh victory in a row.
CSB received contributions from everyone on the floor in its over St. Olaf. As a team, the Blazers recorded a .228 hitting percentage and held the Oles to just .029 hitting for the match.
First-year right side Amber Wortz (Fairfax, Minn. / G-F-W HS) led CSB with a .462 hitting percentage on seven kills. Wortz complemented her effective hitting with an impressive defensive night as she recorded seven blocks. Sophomore outside hitter Emma Jaynes (Hibbing, Minn. / Hibbing HS) finished with a double-double of 12 kills and 14 digs. Jaynes also recorded a .417 hitting percentage. Sophomore setter Beth Hanson (Fairbault, Minn. / Bethlehem Academy) tallied 29 set-assists and 10 digs to complete the double-double as well.
The Blazers are next in action at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 28 when they take on St. Mary’s in Winona, Minn.
