Blazers Pounce on Wildcats

09/19/2007

The College of Saint Benedict volleyball team (1-1 MIAC, 8-4 overall) defeated the St. Catherine Wildcats 3-0 tonight in St. Paul, Minn. The game scores were 30-24, 34-32, and 30-9. Coming off of an abundantly successful weekend, the Blazers jumped back into conference play as they traveled to St. Kate’s.

Despite losing the first conference match of the year to Bethel on Sept. 12, the Blazers came home to Claire Lynch Hall last weekend and swept their opposition with a 4-0 record and tournament championship. CSB will look to build upon its success and utilize the growing momentum against its MIAC opponents.

Tonight marked the beginning of that objective for the Blazers. CSB continued to pick up speed as they defeated the Wildcats in decisive fashion. After a very close second game that was forced beyond regulation, the Blazers regained the advantage and finished off their three-game victory. CSB edged out St. Kate’s 34-32 in the second game and really picked up the pace as they won the third and final game by an unprecedented score of 30-9.

The Blazers are next in action at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 21 when they face Augsburg in their first home conference match of the season.
