Athletic Training

The Athletic Training Department

Welcome to the College of St. Benedict Sports Medicine (Athletic Training).

The Mission of the CSB Athletic Training room is to provide quality medical care in a caring environment for all 11 Blazer intercollegiate athletic teams.  This care includes the prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and education for our student athletes.

The CSB Sports Medicine staff consists of 2 Certified Athletic Trainers (ATC's), and approximately 14 Sports Medicine Assistants (SMA's).  The staff provide on-site medical coverage to our intercollegiate teams.  This coverage includes practice and game/meet coverage.

Roles and responsibilities of the certified athletic trainers:

A certified athletic trainer is nationally certified under the National Athletic Trainer’s Association Board of Certification.  The roles of your certified athletic trainers are to prevent athletic injuries; to recognize, evaluate, and assess injuries; to treat, rehabilitate, and recondition injuries; and to stay updated with health care administration.

The athletic trainers at CSB work closely with physical therapists and orthopedic surgeons from St. Cloud Orthopedics and Associates, Ltd., to ensure that each student athlete is receiving the appropriate treatment.  The athletic trainers also can refer student athletes to general practitioners if an athlete is ill.
