Maria Gans

First-Year...Throws...Rice, Minn...Sauk Rapids-Rice H.S.

High School: A 2007 graduate of Sauk Rapids-Rice high school, Gans was coached by Loren Finlayson...participated in track and field for four years, volleyball for two years and soccer for one year during her athletic career at Sauk Rapids...was a captain and three year letter winner in track and field, made soccer and track academic honor roll and was part of the 2003 2nd place true team state.

Personal: Daughter of Cynthia and James Gans...proudest moment of her track and field career was being a 2007 section qualifier in both the shot put and discus, and was also captain her senior year...enjoys watching and playing every type of sport, hanging out with friends, watching movies, reading and spending time with family...majoring in nursing.

What do you like about being a collegiate student athlete? "I like the intensity of the sport and the increased responsibility as well as the friendly atmosphere of the sport."
