2003 Season Review

INDOOR

The Blazers set new records as they raced into a 6th place finish in the MIAC Championships.  The combination of running, jumping, and throwing proved to be Saint Benedict’s specialty as they filled different field houses with enthusiasm.   

The CSB track and field team set four new Blazer record in both individual and relay events.  Three first-year athletes set new Blazer indoor track and field records.  First-year Leah Wurm set a new record in the 5000M run with a time of 18:07, first-year Patti Clintsman set a new long jump record with a leap of 5.32 meters, and first-year Jenna Wendorff set a new Blazer shot put record with a throw of 12.87 meters.  The distance medley relay team set a new record with a time of 12:47.95.  The team consisted of junior Cindy Blendermann, senior Kit Neubauer, sophomore Anna Gunderson, and senior Jen Bruns.  The team had a good season and it sufficiently prepared them for the outdoor season.

OUTDOOR

The Blazers set new records as they raced into a 5th place finish in the MIAC Championships.  Saint Ben’s had five new records set during the season, led by first-year thrower Jenna Wendorff.  Over the course of the outdoor season, Wendorff managed to break her own record in shot put four times throughout the season.  She qualified for the National Tournament in New York, finishing seventh in her heat, but missed the final cut to advance to the finals.       

Fellow classmates Megan Rose and Meghan Orgeman each set new school records in individual events.  Rose set a new record in the steeplechase and Orgeman set a new record in the heptathlon.  The 4 x 100 relay of Bethany Keene, Sarah Nezworski, Patti Clintsman, and Jen Bruns along with the 4 x 400 relay of Keene, Bruns, Clintsman, and Kit Neubauer all have new records.  The Blazers ended the season with great success and a very promising future.
