In the indoor MIAC meet, the Blazers scored 48 points among a field of 12 teams and tied for seventh place overall. Five school records and 60 personal bests were re-written during the indoor campaign, while 25 athletes qualified for the indoor league championships. Three athletes earned All-MIAC honors, with a strong performances in the field events. For the first time ever, pole vault was a conference event and CSB won the individual championship.
At the outdoor championships, Saint Ben’s had an individual conference champion (pole vault), four All-MIAC recipients and broke four school records in the two-day event. CSB established 78 personal bests during the spring, while 25 athletes qualified for the outdoor MIAC Championships. Four school records fell during the spring.
The Blazers look ahead to 1998-99 with hopes of hosting indoor and outdoor meets in SJU’s new facilities.
