Branigan Shines on Track, Blazers take Fifth

The College of Saint Benedict women’s track team finished the MIAC outdoor track and field championships in fifth place with a team total of 75.5 points. Sophomore Margot Branigan (Roseville, Minn./Roseville) shined on the track and took first place in the 5,000 meter run, as well as the 10,000 meter run. Branigan finished the 5,000 meter in 17:56.21, which also qualified as a MIAC season best time, and finished the 10,000 meter in 37:20.01 which also beat a school record.
 
First-year Jillian Daleidan (Blaine, Minn./Blaine) took second place in the 400 meter with a time of 58.90. Daleidan was also part of the 4x100 relay which took third place. Senior Annie Clintsman (Maplewood, Minn./Hill-Murray), junior Patty King (St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) and first-year Abby Neigebauer (Waseca, Minn./Waseca) rounded out the relay which finished in 50.38. The 4x400 relay took second place by finishing with a time of 3:58.56. The relay consisted of sophomore Alyx Chapman (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater), King, first-year Ashley Irons (Twin Falls, ID/Twin Falls), and Daleidan. The Blazer’s record breaking 4x800 relay finished in third with a time of 9:28.92. Irons, Chapman, first-year Molly Noel (Eagen, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) and senior Kaylee Rasmussen (Waconia, Minn./Waconia) rounded out the relay.
 
Irons finished in third place in the steeple chase with a time of 11:29.76 and senior Kristin Haubrich (Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee) took fifth place in the 5,000 meter by finishing with a time of 18:17.58.
