Track Fifth after Day One of MIAC Championships, Breaks Two School Records

The Blazer track and field team finished day one of the MIAC outdoor track and field championships in fifth place, while breaking two school records. Sophomore Margot Branigan (Roseville, Minn./Roseville) took first place in her heat in the 10,000 meter, while breaking a school record by finishing with a time of 37:20.01. Branigan also set a NCAA provisional and also her time was considered a MIAC season best. The Blazer 4x800 relay also broke the school record by finishing with a time 9:28.92, taking a third place finish in the heat. The relay consisted of first-year Ashley Irons (Twin Falls, ID./Twin Falls),  sophomore Alyx Chapman (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater),  first-year Molly Noel (Eagen, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) and senior Kaylee Rasmussen (Waconia, Minn./Waconia).

In the 800 meter, Rasmussen took first place in her heat with a time of 2:18.39, first-year Jillian Daleidan (Blaine, Minn./Blaine) also took first place in her heat for the 400 meter with a time of 58:28. Senior, Kristin Haubrich (Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee) took second place in the 1,500 meter in her heat with a time of 4:49.51 and in the 100 meter first-year Abby Neigebauer (Waseca, Minn./Waseca) also took second place in her heat with a time of 13:06. Junior Patty King (St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) took third place in the 400 meter with a time of 59:96 and Noel took third place in the 800 meter with a time of 2:22.35. Neigebauer also took fourth in the 200 meter, and senior Annie Clintsman (Maplewood, Minn./Hill-Murray) took fourth in the 100 meter.

The Blazers continue day two of the MIAC championship Sat May 10th.
