Manitou Classic Success for Blazer Track

The College of Saint Benedict track and field team traveled to Northfield for the Manitou Classic, and had many things to lift their heads about. Many Blazers finished in the top ten, “which is a huge thing, this was a large meet”; commented head coach Robin Balder-Lanoue.
In the 400m, first-year Jillian Daleidan (Blaine, Minn./Blaine) stood out by taking second place with a time of 59.97. In the 1,500m senior, Kristin Haubrich (Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee) took a fourth place finish by finishing with a time of 4:51.86. First-year Ashley Irons (Twin Falls, ID./Twin Falls) took a seventh place finish in the 3,000m steeple chase with a time of 11:56.77. Also taking seventh place, was junior Serina Aubrecht (Shorewood, Minn./Minnetonka) in the pole vault with a jump of 3.05m. In the 100m dash, first-year Abby Neigebauer (Waseca, Minn./Waseca) took an eighth place finish with a time of 13.78, and senior Kaylee Rasmussen (Waconia, Minn./Waconia) finished the 800m with a time of 2:19.86 giving her a ninth place finish. Junior, Patty King (St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Durham Hall) took 11th place in the 400m dash, and first-year Laura Deal (Lake Crystal, Minn./Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial) took 12th place in the 200m dash, while fellow first-year, Katy Torchia (Rochester, Minn./Lourdes) also took 12th place in the 1,500m.
First-year Katie Brown (Appleton, Minn./Lac qui Parle Valley) took a tenth place finish in the 100m hurdles with a time of 17.46, while sophomore Ali Galzki (Maple Grove, Minn./Wayzata) took 11th place in the long jump, with a jump of 4.70m. The Blazers 4x400 meter 
relay team also took a fourth place finish with a time of 4:03.65.
The Blazers continue action on the track sunday Apr. 20th and Monday Apr. 21st in Collegeville, Minn. for the rescheduled CSB/SJU Heptathlon/Decathlon.
