Record Breaking Weekend For Track And Field

The Blazers track and field team broke a school record this weekend along with taking first place at the SCSU Husky Open this weekend. The Distance Medley Relay won and broke the school record by 11 seconds, finishing with a time of 12:36.90. Kristin Haubrich (Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee H.S.), Ashley Irons (Twin Falls, ID./Twin Falls H.S.), Kaylee Rasmussen (Waconia, Minn./Waconia H.S.) and Margot Branigan (Roseville, Minn./Roseville H.S.) were part of the record breaking relay.

Besides the record breaking relay, the Blazers also took the top spots in many other events. Abby Neigebauer (Waseca, Minn. /Waseca H.S.) took 3rd place in both the 60m dash and the 200m dash. Junior Sarah Stergois (Missoula, Mont. /Loyola-Sacred Heart H.S.) took second place in the 1 mile run with a time of 5:46.53 with first-year Rebecca Arnhalt (Wolverton, Minn./ Breckenridge H.S.) finishing right behind her with a time of 5:47.27. Haubrich (Shakopee, Minn./ Shakopee H.S.) dominated the 3000m run finishing in 1st place with a time of 10:57.04.

In the jumps, sophomore Jessica Norman (Maple Grove, Minn./ Maple Grove H.S.) took first place in the pole vault with a jump of 2.90m.Also finishing with a jump of 2.90m was fellow teammate junior Serina Aubrecht (Shorewood, Minn./ Minnetonka H.S.).

The Blazers continue action on the track on Feb 16th when the team head back to Saint Cloud, Minn for the SCSU Invitational.
