The College of Saint Benedict track team started their indoor season with a bang, finishing 2nd place at the Carleton TRI with a team score of 148.5 points, finishing behind Saint Thomas.
First-year Abby Neigebauer (Waseca, Minn./ Waseca H.S.) started her collegiate career by taking 2nd place in the 55m dash with a finishing time of 7.56. Neigebauer also took 7th place in the 200m dash with a finishing time of 27.63. First-year Ashley Irons also showed off her talent by taking 1st place in 800m run with a time of 2:26.46.
The Blazers also took top places in the long distance events, with sophomore Margot Branigan (Roseville, Minn./ Roseville H.S.) taking 2nd place in the 3000m run with a time of 10:39.59 and senior Kristin Haubrich (Shakopee, Minn./ Shakopee H.S.) finished the 5000m run with a time of 18:49.65 giving her a 1st place finish. Senior Gustie Garberich (Lake Lillian, Minn./Bold H.S.) took 3rd place in the long jump with a jump of 16-5 ¾ (5.02m) and also took 5th place in the triple jump. First-year Jessica Norman took second place in the pole vault event with a height of 9-6 ¼ (2.90m).
The Blazer track and field team continues their indoor season Feb 9th in Collegeville, Minn. at Saint John’s University when they take on Concordia for the CSB/Concordia Duel meet.
