Schletty Named to National Academic All-American Team

College of Saint Benedict track and field standout Mary Schletty (St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) has added to her lengthy list of accomplishments. Schletty has been honored by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) by being named to the Division III All-Academic Track & Field Team. A sophomore, Schletty played a dual role in 2007 as one of the Blazers top jumpers and sprinters. Using her athleticism Schletty was force in MIAC heptathlon and pentathlon competitions taking second during the indoor season in the heptathlon and grabbing third in the outdoor pentathlon. Schletty is the school record holder in the heptathlon and received an NCAA provisional invitation to the national heptathalon championships in 2007. To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, one must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.25 and obtain an NCAA automatic or provisional qualifying mark for the most recent outdoor championships in their respective event.
