Blazers get 2nd Chance at MIAC Tournament

St. Cloud Times April 28, 2005 - Senior Megan Fitzgerald and her teammates on the College of St. Benedict tennis team have lost three MIAC matches — two by one point. The narrowness of those margins has the fourth-seeded Blazers (7-3 MIAC, 13-10 overall) anxious to get a shot at some rematches at this weekend's MIAC tournament in St. Paul. "We've lost some matches that could have gone either way," said Fitzgerald, referring especially to a 5-4 loss to No. 2 seed Carleton (9-1, 17-4) on Feb. 25 and a 5-4 setback to No. 3 seed St. Thomas (8-2, 14-2) on April 23. "It came down to tiebreakers in a bunch of matches against those two teams, and they were tough matches to lose. We'd like another chance at them." Full Story
