2004 Review

The Blazer Tennis team finished fifth in the MIAC, one spot ahead of last year’s finish.  CSB had a MIAC record of 5-5 and an overall mark of 13-10.  Entering the MIAC Championship, the Blazer held the No. 6 seed and would end the tournament 2-2, dropping a tight match to St. Thomas in the last game of the season, 5-4.

Junior Christin Tiegs was one of 32 singles players to be selected to play in the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships May 15-17 in Memphis, Tennessee.  In the first round of the Division III Women's Tennis Championships, Tiegs dropped her first round match 6-0, 6-0 ending her season.  Tiegs, the Blazers number one singles player, compiled a record of 31-4 during the regular season.

In October, Tiegs also played in the National Small College Championship in Corpus Christi, Texas.  Tiegs finished in fifth place in the nation, and earned All-American status with the impressive finish. Senior Ann Sawyer was presented with the Chris Evert Award.  Sawyer is the fifth Blazer tennis player to receive this award, which recognizes outstanding academic and tennis achievements.
