1993 Review

The climb to the top of the MIAC's elite can be a slow process, but head coach Jack Bowe is convinced the Blazers will eventually get there.  After finishing in sixth place in 1992, CSB moved into fifth place this spring and have their sights on taking another step higher next year.  Seniors Jenny Sell, Madison, Wis.,  and Jenny Murray, LaCrosse, Wis., earned All MIAC honors.   Sell, the team's number one singles player, qualified for the NCAA Division III National Championships, after finishing in second place at the conference meet.  Sell was the fist CSB tennis player to compete in the National Tournament, since former standout Marcy Erickson-Johnson, Hibbing, MN, qualified in 1989.

During the team's Easter vacation, CSB traveled to Hilton Head, SC, to prepare for the final weeks of the season in the upper Midwest.   Overall, the Blazers finished with a  7-6 dual meet record and posted a 5-4 record in conference play during the regular season.  Bowe was recognized as "MIAC Coach of the Year" and Sell was selected as the winner of the Chris Evert Sportsmanship Award.
