1988 Review

Tennis has the richest tradition of the nine CSB intercollegiate sports teams at Saint Benedict's.  The Blazers are having another very successful spring season.The squad finished the dual meet portion of their schedule with a 15-4 (.789) overall record and an 8-1 (.888) record in the the MIAC.

Under the direction of six-year head coach Randy Anderson, the mainstay of Saint Benedict's coaching staff, the Blazers have compiled an awesome 85-32 (.726) dual meet record.

The squad is led by junior March Erickson from Hibbing, MN.  Erickson, a 4.0 student in mathematics and liberal studies, was the school's scholar-athlete last year and also earned the college's athlete of the year award.  During the 1986 season, Erickson was named the NCAA Division III "Rookie of the Year."  This season at number one singles she is ranked first in the NCAA Division III Midwest Region and is ranked second in the NCAA Division III national poll.   Erickson and her doubles partner Tina Och, St. Joseph, MN, are ranked first in the Midwest region and second in the national ranking at number one doubles.
