Sunleaf Hinton

Senior ... Distance Freestyle ... New Lisbon, Wisc. (New Lisbon)

2007-2008: After spending second semester in South Africa as a part of our study abroad program, Sunleaf is ready to re-establish herself as a multi-talented distance freestyle force.  Her amazing singing has inspired the team at each home meet, but she wants to finish her senior year in style…in the mile …..or any other freestyle.

2006-2007: Multi-faceted athlete … can handle any swimming challenge that she is presented with … primarily a distance swimmer, but also enjoys the 100 freestyle and butterfly.

2005-2006: Competed in the 1650, 200 freestyle events, 200 IM … competed in the 200 and 500 freestyle at the MIAC Championships, placed 15th in the 200 freestyle.

2004-2005: Member of the 400 freestyle relay that took fifth at the MIAC Championships … finished second in 1000-yard freestyle at Moorhead in a time of 11:49.38 … raced to best time in 500 freestyle at MIAC Championships (5:34.56)

High School: A 2004 graduate of New Lisbon High School, Hinton was coached by Eleanor Fennie … participated in swimming (six years) and volleyball (four years) during her athletic career at New Lisbon … qualified for the state meet in swimming five years in a row … captained her swimming and diving team … received Most Valuable Award her junior year.

Personal: Daughter of Tina and Tim Hinton of New Lisbon, Wis. … enjoys reading stimulating books, writing music, making new friends, and becoming more active in campus activities … proudest moment of her swimming career is realizing what she can handle physically and mentally while competing in the pool … majoring in psychology with a minor in vocal performance.

What do you like most about being a collegiate student-athlete? “I love the ability to make new friends with a similar passion for the same sport. I also love the physical and mental challenges the sport creates.”
