2001-02 Review

The CSB swimming and diving team had a variety of talent at all age levels.  Their competitive nature allowed them to finish 4^th place in the MIAC Championships with 358 points.  This is the fourth straight year that Head Coach Bill Saxton has led CSB to a top four finish. 

St. Ben’s had top performers in a number of events at the MIAC Championships held at the University of Minnesota.  Senior Krisie Melsen finished 4^th place in the 100-yard butterfly and sophomore Katie Schmidt finished 3^rd place in the 200-yard butterfly.  Diver Amanda Kelly finished 3^rd place in the 3 meter diving event to help gain her team some wealthy points.  Senior Katie Kuhlmann finished 1st place in the 100-yd and 200-yd breaststroke.   Her times gave her an NCAA berth.  Kuhlmann competed in the NCAA Championships at the University of Miami, Ohio and she had amazing results.  She set a school record in the 200-yd breaststroke, finishing 21^st overall in a time of two minutes 26.05 seconds.  She also received All-American Honors with her 6^th place finish in the 100-yd breaststroke.

As the four seniors graduate, they will leave behind an honorary leadership that the team will appreciate for a long time in the future.
