2001-02 Review

The CSB swimming and diving team had a variety of talent at all age levels.  Their competitive nature allowed them to finish 4th place in the MIAC Championships with 358 points.  This is the fourth straight year that Head Coach Bill Saxton has led CSB to a top four finish.

St. Ben’s had top performers in a number of events at the MIAC Championships held at the University of Minnesota.  Senior Krisie Melsen finished 4th place in the 100-yard butterfly and sophomore Katie Schmidt finished 3rd place in the 200-yard butterfly.  Diver Amanda Kelly finished 3rd place in the 3 meter diving event to help gain her team some wealthy points.  Senior Katie Kuhlmann finished 1st place in the 100-yd and 200-yd breaststroke.   Her times gave her an NCAA berth.  Kuhlmann competed in the NCAA Championships at the University of Miami, Ohio and she had amazing results.  She set a school record in the 200-yd breaststroke, finishing 21st overall in a time of two minutes 26.05 seconds.  She also received All-American Honors with her 6th place finish in the 100-yd breaststroke.

As the four seniors graduate, they will leave behind an honorary leadership that the team will appreciate for a long time in the future.
