1999-00 Review

The Blazer swimming and diving season came to an end with a strong fourth place finish in the MIAC, and sophomore Katie Kuhlmann advanced to the NCAA Division III National Championships.

At the MIAC Swimming and Diving Championships, Kuhlmann again performed brilliantly being a part of five of the six Blazer MIAC titles. Kuhlmann won the 100-yard breaststroke, 200-yard breaststroke, and was a member of the 200-yard freestyle, 400-yard freestyle and 400-yard medley relay teams. Junior Gretchen Weber was a part of four of the six Blazer MIAC titles. Weber won the 100-yard butterfly and also was a member of the 200-yard freestyle, 400-yard freestyle and 400-yard medley relay teams.

First-year diver Amanda Kelly was 2nd in the MIAC in 1-meter dive and fifth in the MIAC in the 3-meter dive.

At the national meet, Kuhlmann turned in a time of 1:07.41 in the 100-yard breaststroke to place 13th overall. Her time of 1:07.41 in that event also set a new CSB record. Kuhlmann then recorded a time of 2:29.79 in the 200-yard breaststroke and finished 23rd overall.

Second year head coach Bill Saxton has led the Blazers to back to back top four finishes in the MIAC.
