The 2005-2006 Blazer Swim and Dive team opened their season with high hopes. After two early meets where the Blazers concentrated on getting into the season they defeated UM-Morris easily. Right from the start of the year CSB established some of its stars who would continue to consistently perform well meet after meet.
Junior captain Sara Skrbec would step into her leadership by example role and dominate in the backstroke events all season long. Sophomore Kaelly Simpson would take her role as the Blazers premier breaststoke swimmer. First-years Andria Schwieters and Brooke Johnson also became forces at such an early point in their CSB careers.
Saint Ben's went 5-2 in dual meet competition in 2006. Their biggest win came against a Gustavus team they had not defeated since 1998. In a meet of close finishes CSB won 157-143.
In the MIAC Championship the Blazers performed to their best finish since the turn of the century. Simpson won the 200 Breaststroke and Skrbec just narrowly was edged out of first in the 100 Backstroke. There is alot of optimism to be taken from the meet where the Blazers seemed to perform well in every event, doing so with a young team.
All eyes seem to be looking for great things next year as the talented squad finished the year ranked 18th in the Nation.
