The College of Saint Benedict swimming and diving team put up a good showing at the first day of the Minnesota Challenge at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Despite facing some of the Midwest’s top collegiate athletes the Blazers notched a pair of top 12 finishes.
In the 200 yard freestyle relay sophomores Heidi Goillet (Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids), Jessica Agnew Hoeppner (North Mankato, Minn./West), Lindsey Holm (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley) and first-year Katie Merkley (Eagan, Minn./Eastview) combined for 12 place. The 400 medley relay saw Goillet, Holm, Merkley and first-year Sarah Becker (North Oaks, Minn./Totino-Grace) take 12 place as well.
The Blazers will be back in the pool tomorrow for the second day of competition at the Minnesota Challenge. Swimming will begin at 10 a.m.
