The College of Saint Benedict swimming and diving team had little trouble dispatching MIAC foe Concordia-Moorhead at the pool at Saint John’s Friday night. The Blazers won 11 events on their way to a 181 to 60 win over the Cobbers.
Junior diver Steph Johnson (Chaska, Minn./Chaska) set the pace for the Blazers winning the 3 meter diving crown. Juniors Kelly Matzen (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie), Brooke Johnson (St. Cloud, Minn./ Tech), Alison Pagliaccetti (Virginia, Minn./Virginia) teamed with sophomore Maria Gau (Maple Grove, Minn./ Maple Grove) to take first in the 200 yard medley relay.
Senior Kaelly Simpson (Plano, Texas/ Frisco) grabbed first in the 1000 yard and 100 breaststroke freestyle while sophomore Abbey Brau (Eden Prairie, Minn./ Eden Prairie) did the same in the 200 and 500 freestyle. Pagliaccetti and Johnson went on to win the 50 freestyle and 200 IM respectively. Gau struck again winning the 100 butterfly while Matzen did the same in the 100 freestyle. Matzen, Brau, Johnson and Pagliaccetti combined to cruise to a win in the 400 freestyle relay.
