The College of Saint Benedict swimming and diving team took full advantage of their 2008 training trip to Puerto Rico. The Blazers battled a handful of NCAA Division I schools as well as several international universities to take 11 place at the fourth annual Copa Coqui. Syracuse University took home the team title.
The formidable 200 freestyle relay of juniors Kelly Matzen (Eden Prairie, Minn./ Eden Prairie), Allison Pagliaccetti (Virginia, Minn./Virginia), Becca Schleicher (Avon, Minn./Albany) and Brooke Johnson (St. Cloud, Minn./Tech) proved their worth once again taking fourth place. Sophomore Abbey Brau (Eden Prairie, Minn./ Eden Prairie) was sixth in the 200 freestyle while senior Kaelly Simpson (Plano, Texas/Frisco) had the Blazers’ top individual performance turning in third place in the 200 IM.
CSB will return back to action hosting home Concordia-Moorhead Friday, Jan. 11 at the pool at St, John’s.
