Swimming and Diving Travels to Northfield

The College of Saint Benedict swimming and diving team had a solid showing at Saturday’s Cows, Colleges and Contentment Classic in Northfield, Minn. The Blazers showed they will be an MIAC contender by notching seven top four finishes.

Senior Kaelly Simpson (Plano, Texas/ Frisco) tallied CSB’s top finish of the day taking second in the 1650 yard freestyle notching a 18:53.32. Juniors Kelly Matzen (Eden Prairie, Minn./ Eden Prairie) and Allison Pagliaccetti (Virginia, Minn./ Virginia) took third and fourth place respectively in the 50 yard freestyle. Matzen also finished third in the 100 yard freestyle posting a 55.60. Chelsea Jenson (Plymouth, Minn./ Wayzata) grabbed fourth place in the 400 yard IM with a 5:10.31.

The Blazers will next be in action Saturday for the home opening meet at Saint John’s. The diving portion of the meet is slated to begin at 10 am, while swimming will commence at 12:30 pm.
