The College of Saint Benedict swimming and diving team secured fourth place at the MIAC Championships on the back of four top five event finishes Saturday. The Blazers complete their 2006-2007 campaign after tallying 408 team points. Gustavus Adolphus took the MIAC team title with 789 points.
The Blazers were paced by junior Kaelly Simpson (Plano, Texas/ Frisco) who earned third place in the 200 yard breaststroke. Sophomore Kelly Matzen (Eden Prairie, Minn./ Eden Prairie) capped her stellar season with a fifth place finish in the 100 yard breaststroke. Fist-year Abbey Brau (Eden Prairie, Minn./ Eden Prairie) tallied 15 points with a fourth place finish in the 1650 freestyle. Sophomores Brooke Johnson (St. Cloud, Minn./ Tech), Alison Pagliaccetti (Virginia, Minn./ Virginia), Becca Schleicher (Avon, Minn./ Albany) and Kelly Matzen teamed up for a fourth place showing in the 400 yard freestyle relay.
For the second consecutive season the Blazers took fourth at the MIAC championships.
