2008: Versatile player who has the ability to play in the infield and outfield … will see time in the infield and outfield for the Blazers this spring … improving as a hitter and is a fast base runner.
High School: A 2007 graduate of John Marshall High School, Herges was coached by Thang Nguyen … participated in softball (six years), basketball (four years), and soccer (five years) during her athletic career at John Marshall High School … three-sport All-State Academic selection … three-sport All-Big Nine Conference Scholar Athlete … selected to the All-Big Nine softball team her senior year … named an All-Big Nine honorable mention in basketball in her junior year … winner of the 2007 Tom Everson Outstanding Student Athlete award … John Marshall High School’s female nominee for Wendy’s Heisman Award … named National Exchange Club Athlete of the season in softball the spring of 2007 … three-sport captain … winner of the U.S. Army Reserve National Scholar Athlete Award.
Personal: Daughter of Mary and Rick Herges of Rochester, Minn. … mother Mary is a graduate of the College of Saint Benedict … enjoys sports, spending time with family and friends and watching movies ... majoring in dietetics with minors in psychology and sports medicine.
Proudest moment of her softball career: “Being a starter since my freshmen year of high school.”
