For the 13th straight season, the Saint Ben's softball team (22-16 overall, 13-9 MIAC fourth place) finished among the top four teams in the MIAC. Head coach Denny Johnson, in his 14th season, has averaged 22 wins per year.
CSB was off to a good start when they picked up six wins on their spring break trip to California. In their first game back in Minnesota, the Blazers edged our neighboring college, St. Cloud State, 2-1. Saint Ben's played their first home game against University Minnesota-Morris and swept the doubleheader. CSB continued their success after their home opener recording nine wins in their next 11 games. During this CSB successful run, Coach Johnson surpassed an impressive milestone, picking up his 300th career win with a victory over Hamline.
Together, seniors Mary Welle, Robyn Magalska, and Angie Erickson, broke just about every career offensive and pitching record in the CSB softball record book. Welle will walk away from CSB softball with the most games played (135), most hits (163), most runs scored (114), most at bats (402), and most RBI's (102). Magalska claimed the career record for most walks (63). Erickson has the most games pitched (91), most innings pitched (481.67), most victories (56), and most strikeouts (414).
Saint Bens will graduate six seniors and return three juniors for their senior season next spring.
