First-year pitcher Elle Borba (Ontario, Calif. / St. Lucy’s Priory) recorded her first collegiate pitching victory as the College of Saint Benedict softball team (0-0 MIAC, 3-6 overall) split two contests at the Rebel Games Friday at the Osceola Softball Complex.
Borba (1-2) struck out two and yielded two runs in the Blazers’ 8-2 win over McDaniel College. First-year Alyssa Kubesh (Buffalo Lake, Minn. / Buffalo Lake-Hector) was 3-for-3 and made her first collegiate start at third base.
The Blazers dropped the first game of afternoon competition as Springfield College put together a four-run fourth inning on its way to a 6-2 win.
Thursday the Blazers were rained out of a game with Illinois Wesleyan, but suffered an 11-3 loss to William and Jefferson in the afternoon.
Saint Benedict wraps up its Rebel Games schedule with games against Mass. College of Liberal Arts and Otterbein (Ohio) at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. respectively Saturday at the Osceola Softball Complex.
