The College of Saint Benedict softball team (0-0 MIAC, 1-3 overall) picked up its first win of the 2008 season with an 8-0 victory over Polytechnic University (N.Y.).
Junior catcher Molly Bodeker (Eagan, Minn. / Eagan) hit a three-run triple in the first inning after the first four Blazer base runners reached base. Bodeker finished 1-for-2 with a sacrifice fly driving in four runs.
Junior Andrea Fahey (Little Canada, Minn. / St. Bernard’s) gave up four hits over five innings to record the complete-game shutout. Fahey improves to 1-1 on the season.
Senior Nicki Holmes (Eagan, Minn. / Eagan) and first-year Tanya Croger (Duluth, Minn. / Marshall) connected for two hits each in the win over the Fighting Blue Jays.
The Blazers’ trip to the Orlando, Fla. to compete in the Rebel Games at the Osceola Sports Complex started off with three losses to SUNY Greneso (N.Y.), Carthage (Wis.) and Mt. Vernon Nazarene (Ohio).
CSB continues its spring schedule with games against Westminster College (Pa.) and Smith College (Mass.) at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. respectively Tuesday in Orlando, Fla.
