After last years co-MIAC champion team returned many of its starters, the 2003 Blazer soccer team took their experience and used it to become the 2003 MIAC champions once again. The Blazers won their last seven regular season games, before entering the MIAC tournament. They rolled past Concordia and then faced off against Macalester. The Blazers and Scots were tied 0-0 after regulation and overtime. Penalty shots were the only solution left in determining a winner. Saint Ben’s fell to Macalester 3-1 in penalty shots.
Junior striker Megan McVoy achieved the highest conference honor by being selected as the MIAC Player of the Year. McVoy also tied a school record for 16 goals in a season.
Three members of the Blazers soccer team were named to the NSCAA All-Central Region third team including seniors Taylor Hilker and Tae Ruppe, along with McVoy. Ruppe, Hilker and McVoy were selected to the All-MIAC team. Kate Aubrecht and Meggie De St. Aubin earned All-MIAC Honorable Mention.
