1992 Season Review

The Blazers soccer is "all grown up now," after struggling through a period of growth during the 1980's.  Since beginning a new decade, CSB had made a NCAA National Championship appearance (1990), won an MIAC title (1991) and finished as the conference runner-up in 1992.  The Blazers were 12-6 overall and 7-2 in the MIAC after playing their stiffest competition in many years last fall.

CSB entertained nationally ranked NCAA Division III teams as well as NCAA Division I and II institutions throughout the year and posted seven shutouts.  On offense, the Blazers outscored their opponents 55-20 in their 18 matches.  Senior Colleen Neary, Rosemount, MN, and junior Sharon Welle, Shoreview, MN, led the them in scoring with 15 goals each.  Four members of the team, Neary, Welle, senior Laurie Westman, Rochester, MN, and junior Colleen Carey, Brooklyn Park, MN, were All-MIAC selections.

Even though the Blazers will lose four key players to graduation, 1993 appears to be another season of continued improvement.
