The College of Saint Benedict soccer team was beaten by Augsburg College 1-0 Wednesday in St Joseph, MN. The Blazers fell to 8-2 in the MIAC, but have already clinched second-place in the MIAC with 6 points. Augsburg improved to 7-3-1 in the MIAC and is tied for third place with 15 points. In a closely matched game, the Blazers couldn’t find a way to create scoring opportunities or capitalize on the ones they did.
The game was scoreless until 14:01 remained in the contest, when the Auggies scored the only goal of the game off the foot of Katie Medd. The Blazers have been shutout in all four of their loses this season.
The Blazers will try and regroup before Saturday’s final regular season contest at conference leading Concordia-Moorhead College. The Cobbers lead the Blazers by three points in the MIAC standings, and have already clinched first-place in the league.
The Blazers host an MIAC semifinal game on Tuesday.
