Blazer Skiing Shows a Promising Season

With the season underway this year Blazer Nordic skiing has a lot to look forward to.  Talented returnees, Captain Kelly Wubbels and Maggie Donahue, are sure to lead the team in the winning direction.  Last year these two blazers came in one and two on the ski team with Kelly Wubbels being named MVP and Maggie Donahue receiving the Coach’s Award.  Other impressive accomplishments include Kelly Wubbels finishing up the last year’s season by placing 16^th at the Korteloppet race in Cable, Wisconsin.  She also holds the CSB 10K Skate and 15K Classic all time record fastest times. What new records will she break this year?

            This year’s Blazer Nordic Ski team also has a group of gifted first years.  Anna Roessler, Christi Nowak, and Rita White look forward to excelling this year on and off the trails.  Anna Roessler of Grand Rapids received the All State Award for Pursuit, along with placing 4^th in the Minnesota State Championship last year for her pursuit race.  Christi Nowak of Rogers also received the All State Award for Pursuit, and placed 6^th in the Minnesota State Championship last year for her skate race. Christi also scored an impressive perfect 36 on her ACT, and was Star Tribune's Female Scholar-Athlete of Year.   Another Minnesota All State Award Winner, of both pursuit and classic, joining this year’s Blazer Nordic skiing is Rita White of Roseville.  With all this talent ski fans are excited to see what this Blazer team will achieve!
