Bitter Cold Doesn't Stop Women's Nordic Ski

Blistering winds and below zero temperatures this weekend could have made skiing a chore for the CSB Nordic Ski team. The Blazers trudged through the bitter cold and managed a 6th place finish, tying St. Olaf College with a score of 38 team points.

 For the Blazers on Saturday, Jan 19th, Christi Nowak (Dayton, Minn./Rogers HS) led the way with a time of 0:50.46.7 and an elapsed time of 0:19:46.7 giving her a 22nd place finish in the Women’s 5K race. Teammate Anna Roessler(Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids HS) finished right behind her in 23rd place with a time of 0:38:56.3 and an elapsed time of 0:19:56.3. Katelyn Engel (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata HS) and Stephanie Seymour (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata HS) finished 59th and 62nd respectively.

 For the Women’s 10K race on Sunday, Jan 20th, Roessler (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids HS) led the Blazers, placing 27th  with a time of  3:02:47.7 with an elapsed time of 0:39:47.7. Nowak (Dayton, Minn./Rogers HS) placed 38th with a time of 3:02:52.5 and an elapsed time of 0:40:52.5. Seymour (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata HS) and Engel (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata HS) finished in 55th and 56th place, while fellow teammates Rebecca Mueller (Brainerd, Minn./Brainerd HS) and Lauren Day (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata HS) finished 66th and 67th place. Kimberly Eskuri (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North HS) finished in 71st place and Rita White (Shoreview, Minn./Roseville Area) rounded off the Blazers finishing 75th.

 The Blazer Nordic Ski team continues action Jan 26th  when they head to Telemark Lodge in Cable, WI.
