Head Coach Dave Johnson and the CSB Nordic Ski team have announced the team’s 2007-2008 award winners and accolades as well as next season’s captains.
Sophomore Anna Roessler (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids) was elected team MVP. Roessler was the medalist for the Blazers in eight competitions in 2007-2008 including a fifth place finish at the Graystone Relays.
First-year Sara Kingston (Maple Grove, Minn./ Wayzata) was picked as most improved skier while fellow first-year Stephani Seymour (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata) received the Coach’s Award.
Seymour, Roessler, Kingston, sophomores Christi Nowak (Dayton, Minn./Rogers) and Katelyn Engel (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata) were honored for outstanding academic achievement by the Nordic Ski Coaches Association. All five athletes were names to the Association’s All-Academic Ski Team, in order to qualify athletes must maintain a 3.5 or higher grade point average and participation in the NCAA Regional competition.
The Blazers maintained a 3.565 cumulative GPA as a team.
Seniors Maggie Donahue (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata), Rebecca Mueller (Brainerd, Minn./Brainerd) and Mackenzie Wright (Wayzata, Minn./Wayzata) were elected team captains for the 2008-2009 campaign.
