2007-08: Comes from a great hockey program that has been successful … good goaltender between the pipes … will improve her skills as the season progresses … has the ability to make the big save to thwart potential goals scorers of the opposition.

2006-07: made 10 starts for the Blazers during her first year of collegiate competition … recorded a record of 1-7-2 … made 273 saves … posted her first collegiate goaltending victory in the Blazers’ 4-1 win over St. Catherine (Feb. 9, 2007).

High School: A 2006 graduate of Virden Collegiate Institute, Hartel was coached by Dwight Pollock … participated in ice hockey (four years) and softball (three years) during her athletic career at Virden Collegiate Institute … was the team MVP of her softball team her freshmen and senior seasons … member of the three-time RMFHL South Division Champions Virden Institute ice hockey team.

Personal: Daughter of Nancy and Morley Hartel of Virden, Manitoba … enjoys playing hockey, softball, riding horses, going out with friends and country music … majoring in biology.

Proudest moment in her ice hockey career: Playing my senior season on the Virden Institute ice hockey team when I played in 59 games and had a 40-14-5 record and a .920 save percentage.”

What do you like about being a collegiate student-athlete? “I like having the balance between athletics and school.”
