| Blazers Fall to St. Thomas 6-1 Feb. 15, 2004 - The Blazers hockey team (4-8-1, 6-10-1 MIAC) hosted the St. Thomas Tommies (16-4-1, 13-0-0 MIAC) today. Saint Ben's lost 6-1. St. Thomas started out strong, scoring on the Blazers 4 times in the first period. UST senior forward Tomery Stolz picked up two unassisted goals and assisted first year forward Allison Turgeon's goal. Stolz and sophomore Allison O'Hara assisted sophomore Maureen Hardwick's goal. The second period saw great improvement for the Blazers. At 2:54 into the period, junior forward Katie Ponsolle managed a shorthand goal off of an assist by junior skater Amy Glaeser. The Tommies answered just over a minute later with their fifth goal, scored by sneior skater Jordan Benson. Benson was assisted by junior forward Rachel Reinhardt. The final goal of the game was scored by sophomore skater Jenny Sorenson halfway through the second period. Sorenseon was assisted by sophomore forward Sue Heinmiller. Both teams fought hard throughout the third period but were unable to score, leaving the game 6-1. Saint Ben's next game is on Sat. Feb. 21 at 2:05 p.m. at Augsburg. | |
