    Blazers Battle Concordia

Feb. 1, 2004 - The Blazers (2-7-1 MIAC, 4-9-1) battled the Cobbers (4-6-0 MIAC, 5-7-0 overall) and lost 8-5.  First-year forward Jill Woehrle started the game off with a goal for Saint Ben's.  Woehrle was assisted by junior forward Amy Glaeser.  CSB was determine to take the lead.  Shortly after Woehrle's goal sophomore forward Lisa Bush and sophomore skater Beth Schiller assisted sophomore forward Liz Sieh in putting another puck in the net.  Concordia's senior skater Jenei Estrada was determined not to fall behind and scored the Cobbers first goal shortly before the end of the first period.

Four minutes into the second period Concordia's first-year forward Hannah Impola scored to tie the game 2-2.  Impola was assisted by senior forward Lindsay Kurtis and sophomore Kali Palmer.  Cobber's junior forward Lindsay Czarnecki put another puck in the net to take the lead.  Czarnecki was assisted by first-year forward Hannah Impola.  Saint Ben's junior forward Susan Engel responded to Czarnecki's goal with one of her own to tie the game 3-3.  Earning the assists were first-year skater's Sarah Horlitz and Kristi Fairchild.  Engel felt the drive to take the lead and scored an unassisted goal.

In the third period Concordia's skater Czarnecki immediately scored a goal assisted by Kurtis to tie the game once more, 4-4.  Shortly after Palmer scored on a power play with an assist from first-year forward Abby Cline to pull ahead of the Blazers.  A minute later the Cobber's first-year forward Paige Stone assisted first-year forward Brandie Dunn in putting Concordia's sixth goal in the net.  Estrada then assisted Dunn in scoring the seventh goal for the Cobbers.  With three minutes left in the period Schiller assisted Horlitz in bringing in Saint Ben's fifth goal on a power play.  Concordia's Cline assisted first-year skater Marya Losinski in putting the puck in an empty net with less then a minute to go.

CSB will be hosting Hamline on Sat. Feb. 7 at 2 p.m.
